Gaius Julius Caesar (July 100 BC – 15 March 44 BC) was a Roman general and statesman and a distinguished writer of Latin prose. He played a critical role in the gradual transformation of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. Caesar was famous for his military conquests most notably that of Gaul (modern France and Belgium) and his subsequent coup d'état.
The Crocea Mors (Latin for "Yellow Death") was the name given to Julius Caesar's sword, according to the legends presented by Geoffrey of Monmouth. In Middle Welsh versions, it is called Angau Coch ("Red Death") or Agheu Glas ("Grey Death").
This sword is of the Mainz type gladius (the Latin word for sword) and were made of surgical stainless steel blades that were polished to a high sheen and richly engraved with ivy patterns.
