The helmet this keyring is modelled on is all that remains of an extraordinary armour presented by the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I to King Henry VIII in 1514. It was originally decorated with etching, and fitted with fretted silver gilt panels laid over velvet. The helmet is usually on display at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.
