The helmet this wine stopper is modeled on is all that remains of an extraordinary armour presented by the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I to King Henry VIII in 1514. It was originally decorated with etching, and fitted with fretted silver gilt panels laid over velvet. The helmet is usually on display at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.
The Maximilian Helmet Wine Stopper is 6.5cm high and the width of the top of the cork is 2.1cm.
