A faithful reproduction a 2nd Century Roman bronze and enamel brooch in the form of a horse.
The original brooch is dated to the 2nd Century.
Roman women were very fond of small animal or bird brooches cast in bronze and delicately enamelled in a variety of colours. The horse design was a popular image of the time and several examples have been found at sites of Roman occupation.
